Work of Art

What does it mean to resist nothing?  My meditations today (on my prior post “Whatever You Fight“) had me exploring this question to its utmost extent.  Often times we can look at some of these quotes, or sayings, and just sort of take them at a surface level … I wanted to really OWN this topic.

Basically, to resist nothing … means that you accept everything.  Notice that I said you ACCEPT everything, not that you endorse, or support, everything.  Ultimately I think that it truly means to open the door to change, on all levels, and to never let it close.

For myself, I was kind of dumbfounded about what that truly meant.  I look at ALL the things in my life that I want … we fight for the things that we want, I know I do.  I put my passions into something, or someone, and come hell or high water I am going to be there loving, and fighting, and dreaming, aspiring … that’s just who I am.  So I had a little difficulty really absorbing this lesson, at first.

The thing is, we don’t really know what’s best for us.  We like to think that we do … but truthfully, we don’t.  How many times have you gotten exactly what you wanted, and then a year or two later your life is a complete mess … a disaster.  You THINK you know what you want, and maybe you really did want it … but that doesn’t make it the best thing for you, or God’s will in your life.

To allow fundamental change on all levels of who you are, and in your life … that sounds kind of scary.  Truthfully though, when you get there you realize that it is the exact opposite … it’s not scary at all, it is complete liberation!  It is in our fighting that we create our own misery; in our resisting that we suffer in agony.

Does this mean that we can’t have dreams, or things we aspire for??  No, we should have those things … but we must always stay open, never allowing ourselves to become closed to what God wants for us.  We can maintain our dreams as something we feel God has given us … but then we release and realize and trust that God will bring things to the place that it is intended to be … in the time that it is best for us.

When we force things … often times we just end up ruining what was going to be a beautiful work of Art.  Sure, it can go on to be some other beautiful work of art … but it will cease to be able to be what had been intended.  It is in waiting for God’s timing … never fighting, always open to Guidance … that we will find happiness and fulfillment of dreams that we never even knew we had … those deep, inner dreams that were SO far down in the depths of our soul that we hadn’t even thought them yet.

Religion4All is an idea: that every human being (no matter their race, religion, sexuality, social status, lifestyle, or any other possible factor) is LOVED by God; just … as … they are.

We all are loved by God, and NO religion or person has a monopoly on it. Every single person on this planet is loved equally by God … SO many are cut off from God because they are told they don’t belong. God loves everyone … we ALL are beautiful creations … we don’t need to cringe when we hear the words “God”, or “religion”, or their judgments … God LOVES us all!

There is no requirement to change in order to be LOVED by God, or to LOVE God. God is LOVE, and LOVE is God … period. There is no one who God loves more than anyone else … there are only those who choose to LOVE more … to love God more, and consequently then to love each other more. In doing so, we grow closer to God … and know God.

By opening our hearts, and minds to God (free of boundaries like religion, or social trends); by LOVING God … we are exactly where we are meant to be. If we maintain that openness, never allowing any person or event to make us close our hearts, we will be guided by God to be who we are meant to be.

In that space of openness we can then live a life of LOVE, and be guided to where we are meant to be … forever in LOVE.

WOW! for the painting and you are absolutely right about this – we don’t really know what’s best for us. We like to think that we do … but truthfully, we don’t.

Glad you liked the post, the whole topic has been very useful to me … just don’t fight anything. in terms of the painting … I tend to think that we can be under-appreciative of our bodies … God created us; guilt over our bodies is yet another wasted form of self rejection.
