Chasing Pavements – Adele

I don’t know why but ever since my last post, “Grasping at the Shadow“, this song has been running through my head.  It actually seems like the perfect musical finale to that post …

“Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements?”

Well, according to what I received from my earlier meditations (detailed in that post) … BOTH of those things would be the wrong choices … both of those choices would have been based in the flaws of our own humanity, as opposed to the ultimate bit that God gave me at the end of that meditation:

We shouldn’t give up … and we shouldn’t keep “chasing pavements” either … we should be content in our connection with God … and trust that what God has in store for us is FAR better than the fickle machinations we come up with.  God knows what is best for us.

A wonderful example of this happened recently in my own life.  My sister just got married to the love of her life.  My sister who dealt with abuse, the death of her father at a young age, got into drugs in high school, married a drug dealer at 18 and had 4 kids.  Her husband ended up going to prison and she raised all of the kids on her own as a poor, single mother (for most of their lives).  Her kids (by the way) are some of the most well-adjusted, most loved young adults I have ever known … thanks to her incredible strength and the Love that she showed them.

They’re all grown now.  She has been on her own for a while, and she never really thought she would meet another man to rival the love of her life from her teens.  Well … she did.  She is more happy than she has ever even dreamed of being … she has had two grandkids this year, and her youngest daughter is getting married … AND she married her soul-mate … in comparison to this connection, she didn’t even know what that was until now.

I said to her … “Isn’t it pretty amazing?  After ALL of the things that you have been through?  God knew that this is where you would end up.  If all of those horrible things hadn’t happened, you would be in a completely different place in your life.  Would you want them changed now?”

Of course she wouldn’t … she is in love, and living out what has always been a fantasy for her.  My point is … we don’t know what is going to happen. We can try to make what we want happen, and then just go through life flailing away … trying to make everything fit our mold … OR we can focus on what we have, and trust that God will cause things to happen as they are supposed to happen.

God loves you more than anything you could chase after … however trite that may sound; go ahead, roll your eyes … it’s true.  You are LOVED.

Religion4All is an idea: that every human being (no matter their race, religion, sexuality, social status, lifestyle, or any other possible factor) is LOVED by God; just … as … they are.

We all are loved by God, and NO religion or person has a monopoly on it. Every single person on this planet is loved equally by God … SO many are cut off from God because they are told they don’t belong. God loves everyone … we ALL are beautiful creations … we don’t need to cringe when we hear the words “God”, or “religion”, or their judgments … God LOVES us all!

There is no requirement to change in order to be LOVED by God, or to LOVE God. God is LOVE, and LOVE is God … period. There is no one who God loves more than anyone else … there are only those who choose to LOVE more … to love God more, and consequently then to love each other more. In doing so, we grow closer to God … and know God.

By opening our hearts, and minds to God (free of boundaries like religion, or social trends); by LOVING God … we are exactly where we are meant to be. If we maintain that openness, never allowing any person or event to make us close our hearts, we will be guided by God to be who we are meant to be.

In that space of openness we can then live a life of LOVE, and be guided to where we are meant to be … forever in LOVE.
