I remembered today the very first time I became aware of what I currently refer to as an “energy vampire”.  I had a very close friend who was addicted to drugs … he was an insanely talented musician who I felt had a good heart and had been through a very tough childhood … I could relate to him in a lot of ways.  I spent the better part of two years trying to help him overcome his addiction, and nothing really ever seemed to work.  Then, one day, I had a vision that made everything clear to me.  In my vision I saw this person I believed to be my friend, but out of his chest were dozens of writhing tentacles.  I saw them for what they were … ways to siphon or leach energy.  I was able to see the many ways he had simply been using me; thriving off of the devotion that I had poured into him while he had no intention to change at all.

My friend was an energy vampire.

I haven’t seen my friend since that period of time.  I made a few more futile attempts to break through to him, but I could see that it was all a waste of time (at least at that stage in both of our lives).  He had learned to specialize in making people believe in him; he would say anything, to anyone.  He had gone SO far into this way of living that, even if he could break free, he wouldn’t have been able to.  Still, it is not my intent to cast judgement upon him.  Someday I hope that changes for him … I hope that God’s Love will find it’s way into that tightly bound soul, and heal all of the hurts that drove him to such a place.  There is not one of us who cannot say that we haven’t been the same … we all have been, or are, energy vampires at some point in our lives.

That was my first conscious experience with this level of the spiritual world … how people use their spiritual gifts in horrible, negative ways.  They think it gives them power, but ultimately they are simply enslaving themselves.  Any time that our actions are about taking what we want instead of simply being a conduit for Love, and receiving what Love that is given accordingly?  THAT is being an energy vampire … and not one of us can cast the first stone here.  Still … God LOVES ALL of us, in every phase of life that we go through … that LOVE doesn’t cease to be, or end … Love is always there  … all we have to do is be willing to let go of all the games and machinations … and simply receive it.

Today, in my prior post “In Order Not To Be Judged“, I meditated on the topic of judgement … judging others and, even worse, judging ourselves.  It occurred to me that judgement is another facet of energy vampirism … one person taking something from someone else for the sole purpose of making themselves feel better.

When someone judges you, how do they make you feel?  Insecure, afraid, intimidated, like a failure, angry?  What about them … how do you think they feel after getting the reaction from you that they want?  Powerful, righteously justified, correct, in charge?  This happens in virtually every part of our lives, every day.  People judge you for what you believe, what you wear, your heritage, your height, your weight, your sexuality, the people you’re friends with, the people you co-habitate with, how your children behave … the list is endless.  We get SO caught up in this game … half the time we don’t even realize that WE OURSELVES are guilty of leaching energy off of other people in the same fashion!

How is it even possible to stop???  Ah … well … here is where meditation comes in.  You need to learn how to step back inside yourself … become a Watcher of your own thoughts, and feelings, and reactions.  When all these countless forms of manipulation try to coerce you into reacting to them?  Just observe … let go … let those writhing tentacles trying to siphon your energy just fall away.  Simply rest back in the center of your consciousness … that is where a true connection with God takes place.

You can be free … you just need to let go … and trust … that God will be there … to catch you in that frightening free-fall toward truth … toward enlightenment … toward wholeness.

Let go … stop trying to make the world fit into what you want it to be … allow the world to be whatever it will be with you simply being an open-hearted conduit of God’s Love.  You will be surprised how it changes your perspective … and your life.

Religion4All is an idea: that every human being (no matter their race, religion, sexuality, social status, lifestyle, or any other possible factor) is LOVED by God; just … as … they are.

We all are loved by God, and NO religion or person has a monopoly on it. Every single person on this planet is loved equally by God … SO many are cut off from God because they are told they don’t belong. God loves everyone … we ALL are beautiful creations … we don’t need to cringe when we hear the words “God”, or “religion”, or their judgments … God LOVES us all!

There is no requirement to change in order to be LOVED by God, or to LOVE God. God is LOVE, and LOVE is God … period. There is no one who God loves more than anyone else … there are only those who choose to LOVE more … to love God more, and consequently then to love each other more. In doing so, we grow closer to God … and know God.

By opening our hearts, and minds to God (free of boundaries like religion, or social trends); by LOVING God … we are exactly where we are meant to be. If we maintain that openness, never allowing any person or event to make us close our hearts, we will be guided by God to be who we are meant to be.

In that space of openness we can then live a life of LOVE, and be guided to where we are meant to be … forever in LOVE.
