Facing Your Hopes
In meditating on facing one’s fears today (from my prior post, “The thing you fear“) I actually found myself thinking about the things that I hope for more than what I fear … a testament to overcoming fears, but that was just the first step. As I focused on my greatest hopes and desires, that feeling of clenching in my heart chakra told me that I was closing myself; shutting myself down.
It made me consider that, in my quest to overcome any and all fears, I neglected to seek out my hopes equally.
Your hopes and fears are always tied together. The greatest love in your life will, at some point, also produce some of the greatest pain in your life … the depths of pain come from loving just that much. We can shut ourselves down to experience less pain … but then we lose the joy in living as well.
“Living on the edge” truthfully means living life to the fullest … embracing your hopes and dreams, while accepting that in doing so you will go through some equal swings to the back end of that pendulum.
I personally have found victory in overcoming my fears by accepting them; allowing them to be, letting them go, and then allowing myself to move forward free of any fear-based reactions.
The same thing is true with out hopes … first though we have to actually ALLOW them to be. Most often we shoot our hopes down before we can ever actually pursue them: the person of your dreams, the job that seems unattainable, spiritual enlightenment, etc. Why is this?
Well, partially we fear the rejection of others; that we’ll be ridiculed for being so ostentatious as to actually believe we can make our dreams become reality. The deeper core of it though is that if we really embrace our dreams … we are going to the farthest ends of hope and joy that we possibly can.
We are afraid of the pain that will one day arrive, and so we sabotage our dreams … that way, such depths of pain will never be known. Problem solved.
Except that you’ll never forgive yourself for giving up … and you’ll never know that level of happiness … ever.
The only way to truly overcome our fears is not only to accept the fears … but to also embrace our greatest dreams, no matter the consequence. Bad things will happen to you in life, regardless … you can either be happy by pursuing your dreams, and sure have some deep pain as a consequence … or you can never be truly happy, and miserable when the events that are out of your control happen.
Set that pendulum swinging … pursue your dreams … don’t just stop time to avoid pain. The likelihood is that God gave you those dreams for a purpose.

By opening our hearts, and minds to God (free of boundaries like religion, or social trends); by LOVING God … we are exactly where we are meant to be. If we maintain that openness, never allowing any person or event to make us close our hearts, we will be guided by God to be who we are meant to be.
In that space of openness we can then live a life of LOVE, and be guided to where we are meant to be … forever in LOVE.

Clarity Comes in the Afterglow
There is a curious replenishing that occurs within when we see something through to the finish. You can see this in the world all around us: sports, careers, hobbies, etc. When you finally reach that pinnacle you can stop and look back at what you have accomplished … and be grateful. The same thing happens for us spiritually as well; if we take the time to actually sit, meditate, and listen to God … and then to begin the spiritual undertaking we feel guided toward, and see it through to the end.
Often times the biggest breakthroughs we can have in our lives come AFTER we’ve seen something through to the end. We tend to want these discoveries to happen while we are working so desperately hard … we want to see the results. This seldom happens. Usually we finish something, relax into the new place where we have arrived, and then somehow everything seems to CLICK … that “a-ha” moment! Suddenly everything we were trying to force our Selves to understand and embody … just happens within us, and we feel a wonderful sense of renewal.
I have been experiencing this over the past few days. Truthfully, this past week has been an incredibly difficult and emotionally stressful week … but all of that came about as a result of seeing something through to the finish; something that I felt guided by God to start, and this week to finally bring to a place of completion. It has brought about a lot of changes, and if I were to write them down on paper it would all seem daunting and stressful. Truthfully though, the hardest part was in making myself DO them … willing myself to follow God’s guidance, even if it seemed frightening. The repercussions that have come afterward are almost afterthoughts … I feel such a wonderful sense of peace in knowing that I am on the Path that I am supposed to be on.
Clarity comes in the afterglow of Divine consummation.
The trials that I currently am going through I know to be things that I am intended to experience and learn from … because I know I am on that Divinely guided Path. That transforms them from anxiety causing events, into lessons that I can embrace … such a different outlook and perspective from what I spent most of my life doing!

“Jesus tried to help people not to feel guilty. That was his whole effort. The whole effort was to tell people to accept themselves and not feel guilty, not feel condemned. Don’t say to yourself that you are ugly, wrong, a sinner. Don’t condemn. Whatsoever you are, you are. Accept the fact, and the very acceptance becomes a transformation.
Jesus never created guilt in people. That was one of his crimes. He tried to cheer up guilty people — that was his crime. He tried to tell them, “Don’t be guilty, don’t feel guilty. Even if there is something wrong, you are not wrong. Maybe you have acted wrongly, but your being is not wrong because of that.” Some action may be wrong, but the being is always right.

The Tortured Self – A Vision
I had a vision today. These visions have happened to/for me since I was 20 … I never know when they are going to happen and I cannot make them happen at will. I can however put myself into a state where I am more open to seeing them … this often happens for me through meditation.
Today, however, I was not meditating. I was on a teleconference with a dozen or so other people, discussing topics around self awareness, personal development and duality.
– Flash back a couple of weeks ago –
I had a vision while focusing on my first chakra in a prolonged meditation session. I was exploring a cavern and I had recently discovered a new room. In coming out of this room I had the awareness that to my right was darkness … just darkness. I kept trying to look to my right, and it was as if I couldn’t even turn my head to the right to see. I continued with this intention for at least 15 minutes … waiting for the time to come where this cleared and I would be able to see into this place. It never happened, I was blind there.
– Now back to the teleconference –
One person was talking about the need to accept ones self. The leader interrupted and what she said sparked off this vision for me … while she was talking I felt energy pulsate from her through my heart chakra, which tightened and tingled all at the same time … it was as if I was experiencing the vision and listening to her at the same time:
“It is not enough to simply accept oneself.” she said, “It is much deeper than that. We are trained to view ourselves through our accomplishments … through our results.”
I am back in that underground chamber now … walking toward the place that has been blackened out from my mind’s eye.
“So if you tell anyone that they need to accept themself, they will immediately refer back to what they know … what their results are: how much money they have, what their relationships are, their power, their charm, etc. These are the things they have always used to feel accepted.”
I am rounding the corner and look to where the blackness was … and still is.
“What really needs to happen, what I had to take on for myself, is that we have to accept that we are spiritual beings in a human form. We have both a soulful essence, a spirit, and a human nature. That spirit is ALREADY whole and complete … right now! There is NOTHING that needs to be done to improve on it. YOU are already whole and complete … and you have a human nature that will always be there as well … and that human nature is flawed. You can’t focus on the human nature and exclude the true nature, the spirit … but that is what we do when we base our sense of worth on our results and our accomplishments.”
The blackness disappears and I see an emaciated man shackled to a wall … bleeding as if he had been tortured. I ran to him and broke the shackles out of the wall. I picked up his form, which felt light as a feather, and carried him into the new chamber I had just discovered a couple of weeks ago. There now was a pool glowing with light in the center of that room, and I gently lowered that poor, tortured man into the waters … his head propped on a rock and light glowing all around him, as if it was a psychadelic bathtub.
“That is the nature of Duality,” the speaker continued, “we always have the perfect soulful essence laying down right beside this flawed human nature. It is together that they are beautiful. You can’t try to make the human nature wrong for not being perfect, and you can’t remove the soulful essence from who you truly are … they’re not seperate, you are both simultaneously. That is the edge we must walk.”
As the man begins to heal … I see that he is me. I SEE that I have been torturing the human part of myself by constantly measuring my self worth by accomplishments. EVERY TIME I don’t get the results I want I was whipping him bloody. I feel a hollow feeling in my chest … horror. I go to him, and hug him, and ask him to forgive me. I try to merge with him and make him one with me … but it won’t take. I have been the torturer for far too long … it will take time for him to trust me enough … so that we can be equal, and whole, and complete, and beautiful … together.
