A Better Place?

If you DIED today … would the world be a better place for your having been here?

Definitely a deep and poignant topic that I found myself meditating on, and I admit … there still is a lot more soul soil to till on this one. I’m going to keep this meditative post rather brief, because I really want that question to sink in … both for me, as well as for anyone who happens to read this.

Sometimes I think that, because I have been an artist and performer, naturally I am contributing to the well-being of society.  You know what though, it really depends on your motivation … for many years my motivation was to make myself feel good, or to avoid other people’s disapproval.  Those things don’t help society, and they really didn’t even help me!  If your motivation is to enhance your own image in other people’s eyes, or to make money for yourself, or MANY other self-serving causes??  Ultimately we are sabotaging any goodwill that might come out of what we do … it’s a cop-out. We get to be selfish and greedy, but STILL be helping society at large.

The poorest person on the planet could wind up contributing more to the world than me, or you … if they have Love, and God’s Will, at the center of their actions.  Look at Jesus … you don’t get much poorer financially, and yet he impacted the entire course of the world through Love, and Healing, and Sacrifice.  Those are powerful tools … and they leave a MUCH more lasting mark than money, or fame, or any other self-serving device we create.

We can do these things here and now … today even.  We can give love to whomever we meet in the form of a smile, or a meal, or a hug … those things make a difference … sometimes they can actually change the course of somebody’s life.  I certainly can think of times in my own life where those three things did JUST that.

~~~~~~~
Religion4All is an idea: that every human being (no matter their race, religion, sexuality, social status, lifestyle, or any other possible factor) is LOVED by God; just … as … they are.
We all are loved by God, and NO religion or person has a monopoly on it. Every single person on this planet is loved equally by God … SO many are cut off from God because they are told they don’t belong. God loves everyone … we ALL are beautiful creations … we don’t need to cringe when we hear the words “God”, or “religion”, or their judgments … God LOVES us all!
There is no requirement to change in order to be LOVED by God, or to LOVE God. God is LOVE, and LOVE is God … period. There is no one who God loves more than anyone else … there are only those who choose to LOVE more … to love God more, and consequently then to love each other more. In doing so, we grow closer to God … and know God.
By opening our hearts, and minds to God (free of boundaries like religion, or social trends); by LOVING God … we are exactly where we are meant to be. If we maintain that openness, never allowing any person or event to make us close our hearts, we will be guided by God to be who we are meant to be.
In that space of openness we can then live a life of LOVE, and be guided to where we are meant to be … forever in LOVE.
I dont know, is my answer. If I am to believe that I am here for a reason and I am being that reason by being here and doing that reason then I guess I have played my part-but I also wonder if I would be the last to know about it!
A very important question and my primary motivation. Sometimes I know I’ve left the world a better place; other times I’m not so sure – but it keeps me going. Why am I not surprised you are asking this of yourself? Simply by the fact that you’re examining your life, you stand a greater chance of leaving the world a better place. You’ve probably already done more than you know!
